"well, well, well," comes a voice behind a desk, a face emerging soon after, "here i thought someone had mixed up the names." he smiles as he approaches, clipboard in hand, glasses resting a-top his head. "didn't quite expect you to be interested in gym challenges," though, he couldn't exactly place the reason.

Mint grinned immediately upon hearing the gym leader’s voice. “You’re right I’m not~” he said with a laugh. “I’m just here to annoy you at your work.” The grunt stated before reaching into his jacket pocket and pulling out a pokeball. “Sorbeccito will be it for today.” He said as he released the large bug pokemon. The Snom, which hand landed on the floor, immediately began climbing up his trainer’s leg. Mint scooped him up before setting him on the desk. “The least fidgety or my pokemon.” He said at the Snom looked up at Greyson and then at his immediate surroundings.

his lips pull back into a smile at his verbal jab, and as his eyes fall onto the giant ivory tinted bug. "an interesting name," he says casually, withdrawing of a ball of his own, "but i'd expect nothing less." from within' the orb, a comfey appears, floating down towards the creature after a nod of encouragement. her mews are soft, curious, and polite. she'd wrap herself around the ice-type at her first opportunity.

after the pokemon is properly fitted out, he turns his attention upwards. lips quirk, this time, into a coy smile, a small dimple forming into one his cheeks.

“He looks like a dollop of ice cream!” Mint explained without being prompted. Sorbeccito looked like….something as the Comfey carefully picked him up. The fat worm hung from their grasp limply but took the liberty to coo at his trainer when Mint pulled out his phone to snap a few photos of his baby boy. [break][break]

“Mmm I think I’m good. Just Keep them safe, right?” he said as he let out Cacio. The Luxray sniffed at his trainer before their surroundings, eyeing Greyson before looking at Mint awaiting instructions. “We’re playing keep away Cacio!! Keep…EVERYTHING away form Sorbeccito and his new friend.” He said while the cat seemed to glare at the overly simplistic explanation of their situation.

as the door opens, mint is greeted by the sight of a sprawling city. an endless night hangs over, filled with glittering stars and a full-moon. it's as realistic as they come, down right to the drunken yelling and cat-calls just a street over.

just when mint would think that things seemed too calm, the air changes. the warm breeze of spring takes a sudden chill, mint's breath turning to mist in seconds. others nearby notice the weird change in tempature, shuddering against the sudden drop. they look to one another in confusion when... a roar splits the night.

a figure stands silhouetted by moonlight, decending slowly onto the unsuspecting city. drunken fools call it out, pointing it out with amused laughter, nudging one another in a drunken stupor. when the creature finally settles, it lifts it's long, craggy neck and bellows out a challenge. it shakes the world around it, and at once, the air seems to still.

then, it explodes into frost and ice.



screams sound from everywhere at once, and should mint turn to look in their direction, he'd see a person FROZEN solid in an instant. in thet distance, three flares explode.

BLUE. RED. YELLOW.

the attacker? no where to be seen.

A normal night turns deadly as a great, legendary being of ice descends onto an unsuspecting city. It launches a surprise attack, sending ice, snow, and a bone-chilling cold everywhere.

You're given three avenues to explore. Three calls for help, each more different than the last, but all of them just as important.

"Oh shit." that didn't look like keep away at all. In fact, he doesn't even really see Greyson's Comfey anymore, which is all the reason he needed to return Sorbeccito to his pokeball before danger got too close. Then calamity struck as a winged creature dropped the temperature to a cold Mint had never felt in Hoenn. It's a different kind of chill than what he strove to find in Shoal Cave. A sharp blast of ice cuts through the city and the crowd and Mint watched the equivalent of Pompeii unfold before his very eyes. human beings and pokemon frozen solid, some toppling over from the force of it all and shattering.

"OH fuck- Oh fuck- Oh fuck?!" Mint's head whipped around as he backed up from the chaos, wondering his best bet to make it out alive. Distance was a good start. Would the sewer be safe? Would it be worse to get trapped down there? Cacio is let out, the panther as confused as he was by the situation. Then, as three flares are set off Mint and Cacio use a few moments to debate the colors. Did they mean anything? "Uhhh fuck it, Cacio make towards the blue one." Bad day to be an ice specialist. Careful of the large swathes of ice, the pair begin making their way towards the blue flare.

making their way through the chaos of fleeing civilians and human-shaped ice sculptures, mint and his party arrive at the scene of the BLUE FLARE. it's eerily silent despite the threat the city faces; a lack of screams, cries, and everything else. in takes only moments for mint to understand why.

littered about like upside down icicles, dozens of men, woman and younger litter the streets and courtyard. their faces frozen in fear and grief as understanding swept through them as fast as the ice. suddenly a bone chilling PULSE of wind and ice courses through the area and the ground, the likes of which had slowly began to resemble an ice rink, begins to expand its wintery death touch.

at its center is a GLACIATE SHARD imbedded deep into the concrete. its very presence FREEZES everything nearby, and it only seems to grow by the second. destroying the crystal seems easy, until...

the clop of a stallion echoes in the silent space, atop it a deer-like creature with four horns and a budding crown. a guardian of ice, it raises its hood in challenge, staring you down with winged cloak spread.

Mint comes across a gruesome scene — men, women and children stuck in stalagmites of ice.

A massive shard of ice, no doubt an extension of the creature that descended moments before sticks in the earth, an ever-growing beacon of cold and death that threatens to spread through the city.

And at its head, a guardian stands ready to defend it

SOLVE THIS CRISIS!

They've just arrived but already there's so much death and destruction from just one giant shard landing. What the Fuck is a Kyurem again? Mint racked his brain trying to remember whatever bits and pieces he could. All he got was it was a Unova legend, typically described as a hollow shell waiting to be filled. So was it at half power? IF it was...Gods forbid it fused with Zekrom or Reshiram. [break][break]

He wished he were better dressed. Liking the cold was very different form being able to resist it. The ice and the cold is spreading, and his breathes come out like thick clouds of fog that bubble out of him as heat escapes. He wouldn't last too long this close. His partner is also having a hard time. He doubted reasoning with the funky little dude would do too much but he tried anyway. "You can't make a major populated area your new home. Get Out!" Mint ordered. [break][break]

Cacio took a warning shot, shivering violently, the Luxray sparked up, electricity coating all over his body as he ran straight at the guardian using VOLT SWITCH. Either he hit the Ice Knight or the shard, it didn't matter to him. Either way, once through, the Luxray would pop back, swapping out with another pokemon. Bucatini the Aggron stood defiantly in front of her trainer ready and waiting for Mint's order. The long dangly earring he had began to glow with energy, ready for activation. As he prepared that, Another pokemon stomped onto the field, slowly and steadily before letting out a menstruous roar. Straciatella the Abomasnow, if HAIL wasn't already falling, it certainly was now summoned by her SNOW WARNING. Surrounding her and her team, the Abomasnow called forth an AURORA VEIL bending and flexing the aurora lights to their defense.

the luxray's VOLT SWITCH connects not with the pokemon, or even the massive shard behind it, but rather with a GLACIAL LANCE. electricity dances across the strange weapons surface, but the panther is no longer present to see it.

in it's place, two behemoths.

the strange pokemon's demeanor doesn't shift.

behind it the shards vibrates noticeably and the air stills; not even the wind dares blow before the phenomenon. a breathe, then two pass in silence. the crystal shudders as if it was shedding an imaginary skin and a sphere of icy cold energy detonates outwards.

it's sphere of influence goes further beyond than what mint can see, easily catching him and his pokemon inside. as it passes over the trio a powerful cold grips their very being, far colder than anything mint or his pokemon had ever come across. not even an ice-type like the abomasnow is safe, though it is resistant.

frost forms at the challenger and his pokemon's feet, and the spread of ice on the ground pulses further. if it wasn't clear before, it is now — the clock was ticking.

It almost looked like Cacio's attack glance off the guardian. He can tell as much when he noted that the horse and the pokemon on the horse seemed unbothered by the shocks. Well shit. He didn't have any fire types on him right now. Both his pokemon take their positions to defend him, awaiting their next command. However, before Mint can send them out the wave of ice blasts past him and he gasped, struggling to breath form the shock of the sudden drop in temperature. Bucatini and Straciatella both nearly buckle as well. His arms immediately wrap around himself and he shoved his hands into his arm pits. He takes a note of the ice and wants to desperately move but its' slow, and sluggish. But if he doesn't he'd collapse. [break][break]

"Keep going-" his broke breaks, struggling to get louder. His earring shines again and Bucatini shoots him a look before pushing forward, slowly but surely before increasing in speed. Rainbow energy enveloped the Aggron, and her form morphed and changed before revealing her Mega Form. There's a defiant roar as she barreled through, not aiming for the pokemon but whatever they were guarding with a HEAVY SLAM attack. [break][break]

Straciatella is no slouch either, pushing through with Bucatini. She threw her arm forward a RAZOR LEAF attack whooshing through the air despite the freezing cold. That's not enough though, and she's still stomping towards the pair, intent on wrestling their attention away from whatever Kyurem had dropped on the ground. Mint for his part did the best he could to stay standing. [break][break]

while mint frost prepares his team, each of them realizing the haste this situation calls for, another GLACIAL PULSE emanates from the GLACIATE SHARD. it washes over the challenge and his team, coating them in little crystals of ice over every visible portion of their body. it'd be cold enough to leave BURNS, if not for the effect of AURORA VEIL.

the ice rider, his expression still as placid as before, turns his attention to the incoming mega aggron. it's HEAVY SLAM sends ripples into the very flow of the air around the shard, a small crack forming at its center.

this just wouldn't do.

a GLACIAL LANCE forms in-front of the unknown pokemon, and with its will alone, surges forth after the steel-type. it braves the RAZOR LEAF attack as it focuses, empowering its attack with PSYCHIC energy. the lance catches aggron in the BACK, spreading the cold of its strike into the mega pokemon's body.

satisfied, for now, it turns its gaze back to the dual ice- and grass-type, head cocked to the sided as it advances on horseback.

The second pulse of cold nearly knocks Mint on his ass. It's hard to breath and he had to fight the instinct of curling up into a ball and dying. His team can handle the momentary lapse in command at least. Bucatini is not immune to the ice lance shrieking as cold burst through her and coats her steel plating. She's still moving but he could tell without looking she was rough. Anyone would be in the 9th circle of hell. [break][break]

"K-K-Keep go-going!" Mint screamed as he did his best to unhunch, hugging himself, fingers circling into tight fists in his arm pits. The Mega Aggron used the opportunity to bust out METAL BURST, channeling the hurt the riding Pokémon had inflicted on it to slam metal into the accursed ice shard. Straciatella for her bar charges at the guardian, right arm glowing green and sliding for a fierce WOOD HAMMER.

Mint looks for cover, staying close but out of line of sight for the dangerous pair. Fuck, he really needed to get his hands on some fire types.

the WOOD HAMMER lands its blow, sweeping the unique pokemon back and off of its feet. it tumbles into a nearby pile of snow, annihilating it entirely. after a few seconds, it stands to its feet, and the very air trembles beneath a powerful PSYCHIC pressure.

right in-front of the aggron's eyes, THIN SPIKES OF ICE rip free from the shard, and under the duress of his mental prowess, fly with wild abandon at mint and his pokemon. this WEAKENS the integrity of the shard even further!
